October Fun: Carving pumpkins

Carving Pumpkins

Carving Pumpkins

I absolutely love the holidays. Participating in all the traditions and festivities is amazing. To go along with the fall season we decided to carve pumpkins for family day. It was so much fun. My husband carved a little one while I carved the big one. He carved our sons name and his little face pumpkin style. Our son kept trying to take the carving tools away but ended up with the top of the pumpkin. For unknown reason to us, he decided to eat it raw. I guess it tasted really good. I have never tried raw pumpkin. My favorite part of the pumpkin is the seeds.  I love roasted pumpkin seeds they are so good.

Husband first

After my husband finished carving his pumpkin our little one stole it after all his name was on it. It was so cute to see him try to figure out what it was. He just kept rolling it this way and that way. Then he would start hitting on it like it was a drum. Watching his natural curiosity is something we love seeing and encourage it.

Clean up

After my husband cleaned up his mess I started working on mine. Let me tell you that had to be the slimmest job I have ever had to do. Having to clean it out was gross but my son decided he wanted to help me. Now that was a job on its own he managed to get it on his face and in his curly hair. I can remember as a kid helping my mother clean out the pumpkin and getting all the seeds sorted out. I hope to have some of the same memories with my little one.

My turn my memories

I chose to carve my favorite football team the Texas Longhorns. That was so hard even with having the paper to trace. Which once you start carving and it gets wet starts tearing. I think overall this being my first time carving a pumpkin it turned out pretty great. Best of all I got a ton of seeds to roast and created memories with my little family.  What did you do for your family day?
