Breastfeeding can be very rewarding but it can have risks if you don’t take care of yourself. When my son was 13 months old I decided to go to the doctor. I hadn’t been taking any of my vitamins as I should have been. I was weak, exhausted constantly, didn’t feel well, etc. I found out I was malnourished from breastfeeding and not properly taking care of myself.
Once I started taking vitamins I started feeling so much better. My energy improved and I didn’t feel like I need a nap every 30 minutes. I was more cheerful once my energy increased and I could keep up with my son. It is hard not being able to keep up with your little one especially when you don’t realize it is because you are not taking care of yourself properly.
I tried a nature made multivitamin but those pills were huge and had a weird taste if set on your tongue to long. I did like the fact that I only had to take one and they were at a local grocery store. Another kind of vitamins I took was Milkies nursing postnatal breastfeeding multivitamin. They are specifically made for breastfeeding moms. I like the fact they are developed by a doctor and have a natural formula.
Each pill bottle comes with 60 capsules which is a month supply. I like that they are a smaller then the other vitamins I have tried and don’t seem to leave a taste in my mouth. I also like that the bottle is smaller so doesn’t take up a ton of room. What I don’t like is that I have to take two pills. I am not the biggest fan of taking pills so the fewer the better. I have not had any side effects from taking the pills.
Take care of yourself
As mothers, we forget to take care of ourselves and only focus on our families. We as moms need to remember to take care of ourselves also. If we don’t how can we properly take care of our family especially our children. Breastfeeding is such an amazing thing to be able to do just don’t forget to take your vitamins or you can end up malnourished as I did or much worse. Do you take nursing postnatals? If so what kind do you take?
