Finding kid friendly things to do while traveling to another city can seem like a daunting task. Especially if you have never been to that city and don’t know anyone there that could recommend a place to visit. My husband and I recently took a trip to Houston, Texas to the Downtown Aquarium. It was a fun little trip to take and very kid friendly. My main goal when going somewhere is will Baby A have a good time and are there things that he can do being only a year old.
Houston Downtown Aquarium
I found the Houston Downtown Aquarium fun for all ages. They had so many things that you could do including a little train, Ferris wheel, restaurant, horse carousel, gaming booths, face painting, and of course the main attraction the aquarium. We had such a fun time trying it all out and seeing all the exhibits. We didn’t get a chance to try out the restaurant but will surely do so in the near future. I would have to say my favorite part was the white tiger exhibit or the train as it went through the shark voyage. It really was an amazing tunnel with a shark exhibit. It was amazing having sharks swim all around you and some were even just lying on the bottom relaxing.
There were so many neat attractions to view. White tiger exhibit, snakes, turtles, photo ops, and even a sting ray exhibit. You are able to go and touch the sting rays. I can honestly say they feel super gross. I have no idea what I was expecting but not slippery rubbery feeling. Then when I was touching one two others swam over him thinking my fingers were fish. It was quite an experience that I would not mind repeating grossness and all.
The Houston Downtown Aquarium is somewhere I would not mind visiting again with my toddler. He had so much fun running around looking at all the fish and the info-graphics. It was so cute seeing him stand in front of them like he actually knew what they said. I know it was fun for all of us and that is the best kind of places to visit with a family. I am happy we paid for the wristband to get on all the rides.
If you are ever in Houston and looking for something to do, I would suggest stopping and checking out the Houston Downtown Aquarium with your little ones. Be sure to purchase the wristband to get on all the rides as well as get into the aquarium.
